do voice ur opinion n vote....

The weekend was relaxing and I didn't go anywhere out and jus took complete rest. And now am back to my supreme health :))
I saw the movie "Kingdom of Heaven". It was nice.... you can watch it once... but, can't compare it to the director Ridley Scotts's previous one Gladiator... that one is a greattttt movie..

I must say the European F1 race y'day was mind blowing... poor Raikonnen he should have won the race after all the hard work done. That tyre didn't last for jus 3 miles.. oh.. that was soooo near yet so far... Anyway, glad that the two ferraris finished in the top 5, thanks to Raikonnen's tyre failure.. :))

Seeing the comments in my previous posts, guess lots of gals believe the guys are too much obsessed with sports... And ya, quite frankly I accept it... I involve myself alot in certain sports that I watch.
pssttt... there is a secret behind this.. u know, if u r not able to reach to great heights in a sport u want to or even play a sport u love, jus watch it and enjoy... why to worry if u r not playing.. u can always shout in excitement when ur team wins or blame alottt of ppl when ur team loses.. Thats the best way right??? :))))

Anyway, whatever the reason that might be, I accept that most of the guys like me are obsessed with sports.. and u know what.. its directly proportional to gals luving soap operas... wht do u say guys??? :D I sense some wicked grins and some gaalis too.. :))

Gals no hard feelings for whatever I write here.. jus take it light heartedly and read.. :D

How many times do women talk abt "jassi jaise koi nahin" or "kyun ki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi".. And, how many buckets of tears do they shed when they see the sati savithri bahus facing tough times... and how many times do they talk abt the clothes, jewels or any fashionable things that the gals wear in those serials....
the list is endless....

Ok... so here is for the discussion.....

How many of you think that gals are more obsessed with Soap Operas than guys with Sports?

Do cast ur votes in this voting service I've created here.... and lets know the results..... this is a good game.... so, jus take a min and vote...

I need inputs pls... be frank in ur answers... and no cheatings... :))

ranting n ranting only....

This is going to be one post which am gonna rant rant and rant.. nothing else....
and if I've to sleep peacefully tonight, i'd have to do this...
Things r not going on as it should be for the past few days...

First my health...... off late I'm having quite a few problems... first I got a heat boil right on my knee last weekend and it has jus started healing.. was unable to even walk last weekend... :(
Now, for the past couple of days having a terrible back pain. U shouldn't be surprised to hear that from a software engineer.. right??
Leave these things aside... I'm sure I'll be fit and fine soon..

"jab bhagwan deta hai to chappar phaad ke deta hai"
This holds good for work too... if it comes, it comes in full loads... now for the next one month or so I'll be pretty much occupied with loads of things.... even I'm not bothered abt that.... ofcourse what for am I here in this company... so, thats not a problem for me...

but, the thing that troubled my mind the whole of today and made me rant here....
any guesses.. ah.... the Champions League... I'm really pissed off like anything since morning.. I'm a great fan of AC Milan... I waited till 12'0 clock midnight to watch it. Liverpool, damn them.. they r not even fit to be in the finals.... but for that controversial goal against Chelsea. Chelsea should have been the team AC Milan faced.... The first half, obviously I was jumping for each n every goal AC Milan were scoring.... At one such jump, I landed right on my friend's toe.... and poor chap he too was deeply engrossed in the match that he realised it a little later only and shouted at me for that....
At the end of halftime, who would have imagined a score of 3-0 at halftime would not be enough for AC to take the UEFA Champions League Cup...
And right at half time, it started to rain like anything in b'lore and the current went off... I was going mad at that time... But, I thought with this scoreline, there is nothing to worry and I can sleep peacefully and see AC taking the cup tomorrow morning in the news...

And I was in for a great shock when I switched on the TV and saw the NDTV news... "Liverpool beats AC Milan" was the headlines... How the hell this happenend... in the span of jus 7 mins, they levelled the scores!!!
But, thats only a momentary brilliance.. AC Milan should have won.. Am sorry if anyone out there is a Liverpool fan. but, I must say y'day AC Milan's play was far better than theirs except for that 7 mins.. forget it...
Since today morning, am unable to open any website to read the news.... if I open rediff, I see Liverpool wins Champions League as the first headlines... so do in the other sites... damn it.. am not even able to open a site cos of this...
When I open my mail box at office, there it lies... a powerpoint presentation of the same match.... "Liverpool's champions league victory". Who the hell sent that to me... oh man.. am really sorry if am too loud here... am jus not in the right mood since morning....

Sometimes these small things do hurt me.... Am very passionate regarding some things like Ferrari, AC Milan, Italian football team.... I don't want any of these to loose... any match... Do u see any link in these???? Ofcourse all are Italian.... somehow I have a softcorner for that country.... might feel silly for some... but, donno how that got into my mind... Its one place I luv to go and visit one day...
Ferrari too hasn't been able to do much in F1 this year.. thats another thing I never like to see.... somehow I don't want Renault to win this year... Alteast let Raikonnen should win but not Alonso... Hope I'll be able to see atleast one race this year where Ferrari dominates...

guess i've ranted too much... atleast I avoided using the F-word.... i should stop now... feel a little better that I vented out all these.... how r u feeling after all these rants???? i know, i won't get any sympathies for these.. :(

its Movie time....

Hmm... nice idea.. from Poonam's blog... and thought I'll put in my blog too...
Some questions about movies....
Read this and let me know ur choices too. If you like this idea, I "recommend" :D u to continue this idea onto ur blogs too....

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video/CD:

Guess it'll be more than 50 in CDs and more than 15 in DVDs...

2) The last film I bought:

Julia Roberts collection of 4 movies in 1 DVD including the great Notting Hill, My best friends wedding... :D Am a great fan of Julia Roberts... :))
In Hindi, jus last week saw the Black cd, took it but had a great dilemma whether to buy or not.. and ultimately kept it back...

A new additional category... thought i'd add this one.. :)
3)The next films planned to buy:

Its not actually a film, but planning to buy the entire 13 seasons of Friends series in DVD.. love every episode and every character of it.. :)
Awesome series its... I believe there must be lots of Friends fans out there too...

4) The last film I watched:
  1. In the theatre: Mumbai Xpress

  2. On TV: LOC Kargil, yesterday on Star Gold.

  3. On video/DVD: Zeher :D After being obsessed with the songs of this movie, esply Woh Lamhen (guess u all would be bored hearing this from me again n again.. kya karen control nahi hota :D), I decided to check the film too. After watching it, felt it was better than some crap movies made recently...

5) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
  1. DDLJ - No words for this movie... simply amazing... any day any time u can watch it...

  2. Dil Chahta Hai - wow.. simply wow... too good a movie... again any time any day... watchable.. Amazing characterisation and very youthful too...

  3. Kal Ho Na Ho - good movie.... very good songs... but, the ending was alittle draggin.. yet, altogether a good movie..

  4. Zakhm - one movie which brought tears in my eyes (i don't do that often u know  ) Great movie... great acting by Ajay and esply by Pooja Bhatt, she deserves a praise too..

  5. Munna Bhai MBBS - A great movie.... great acting by Sanju bhai...
This is a very small list & only Hindi favs..
Luv lots of English movies esply Julia Roberts one like Notting Hill, My best friend's wedding, Step Mom....
and others like Father of Bride I & II ( a greatttt movie and a greatttt sequel of that)
Other great movies like Gladiator, Titanic ...
Also Tom Hanks is great in Forrest Gump and Cast Away.. those are really good too...

As for my mother-tongue Malayalam, I like Niram, Thenmavin Kombathu, Manichitrathazhu, Mazhavillu to name a few...

In Tamil, I like Alaipayuthe (Hindi version-Sathiya).

Questioning the history......

I know most of you would understand jus by seeing the title what this post is about, cos I believe most of u would have read "Da Vinci Code". In one of the chapters, I read an interesting point made by Dan Brown... when Teabing tells Sophie that the history is written by the winners... and its mostly one-sided...

Here is the exact extract from the book... Teabing says this to Sophie....

Meaning that history is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books - books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe. As Napolean once said, 'What is history, but a fable agreed upon?' He smiled. "By its very nature, history is always a one-sided account.

When I read that statement, I started to think.... how things would have been in the eyes of a loser. I too felt there might be some cases where they would glorify themselves jus for the sake of a name in the history. I don't say that the entire history whatever we've read till now is wrong. But, there might be facts in each and every history that are either hidden or exaggerated to a greater extent.

A really thought provoking statement isn't it. I have a habit of marking some really good quotes that I read in novels or any books... and I immediately marked this one and thought I'd blog it, so that I can know what others feel abt this...

I read some great quotes in the books "Love Story" and "Doctors" by Eric Seagal... might be I'll write those in another post... Both are great books...

back to blogdom....

I'm feeling as if I was on a break away from the blogworld... Its been a week since I visited the blog world.... seems like ages... cos when I read some of the blogs, felt I missed so many things...

As I had said, I was on a week long training in Unix & Shell Scripting... It got over last Friday. The training was great... but the sad part was... we didn't have access to the net in the training lab :( , so no access to the mails, messenger or the blogs.. too sad isn't it.... :((

Anyway, I had a fabulous weekend... Myself and my friends had been to Madras (now called as Chennai) for the weekend. We have lots of friends working in Madras so, we went there to visit them and have some fun... and indeed we had a great time... except for the climate which was terribly hottttt.. unbearable conditions.....

On saturday, we went to a beach resort called Shelters Resort on the way to Mahabalipuram. We were about 16 in all..... spent the whole day in the beach, playing beach volleyball, cricket, table tennis and infact for most past of the day we were in the swimming pool... :D
We had loads of fun in the swimming pool... played alottttt till the caretakers there got concerned that we won't leave the place :))

One of them came to us and said, "Sir, we used to allow ppl in the swimming pool only for a couple of hours a day. But, u all are in the pool for a longgggggg time."
One of my friend replied back saying there isn't any rule as such... so, we'll play as long as we pay for a day's fee... and continued...

Lots of ppl didn't know swimming (and yes it includes me toooo :D). So, we were trying to learn swimming in the pool. The water was only just over 5 and half feet. But, we all had a hard time learning swimming and after an hour or so started playing in the waters... was fun... We also captured some funny moments there... :)

Sunday, the whole day we were sleeping till 11am cos of the tiredness and the heat of Chennai was sooo unbearable that we decided not to go out anywhere and had a good long chat... and atlast we packed our bags, boarded the trains and came back to Bangalore today morning. Altogether was a great weekend seeing our friends and spending some wonderful moments with them...

Now, back to work... and back to blogdom... So, will see to whats happening in each one of ur life.. thro' ur blogs... :)
Have a great week ahead...

Am on a training this whole week. So, getting very little time to come to office and check if I've something important has come-up... The training is going on very well.....

I had a good time at home last weekend... And I should mention about the Virtual Desi Bloggers Meet, that was really nice... A nice idea to bring the desi bloggers all over the world at a single place, virtually.... But, I missed out the conversations over the mic since my speakers weren't working :(( I'll make sure I'm going to get a new mic n speakers very soon to be ready for the next meet :D
Anyway, I did have a good time thr.. Met lots of new blog friends too... Discussed whole lots of stuffs.. heard they went on n on n on for nearly 6 hours. I missed it cos had to go to my friend's place...
And, I shouldn't forget to mention the greatttt hostesses for the meet Kaush and Princess, they did a wonderful job. Hats off to both of them... :)

BTB, after a loonngggggggg time, I completed the Da Vinci Code. I was finding very little time after my work and other things to complete it... but, was determined last weekend to complete it at one shot and did it.. :)) A really good book, must read for all the ppl who read loads of adventure and suspense stuffs... Thinking of getting on to the next one.. Angels n Demons, donno how long i'll take for this one :D. Let me see..

Me listening to the greatttttt Woh Lamhen song from Zeher... really can't stop from listening to that song... listen to that one atleast for 10 times a day.. yesssssssss... greatttt song...

Ok guys n gals... me signing off now.. am terribly hungry.. loads of stuffs gone into my head today from the training, so got to fill my stomach too accordingly.. :D

hiiii.....

Back to the usual routine.... Atlast things are sorted out... My cousin-sis got discharged from the hospital yesterday. I was with her till that time. Yesterday, her mother had come all the way from Goa (her parents stay in Goa, cos my uncle works in the Army). She had a complete check-up and guess what the problem turns out to be???
Nothing but the usual problem that occurs to people sitting infront of computers for a long time... Yes, she was jus having problems due to tension and strain..... the pressure at work and loads of hours infront of the monitor did it all...
All that the doctor advised is to take some rest before getting back to work again. She has gone to our native place in Kerala with her mother for a week-long rest. What a nice place to rest amidst the greenery of our place, away from the busy city life...

I was wondering... these kinds of problems occur often for Software Engineers n ppl working in BPOs and call centers. When I was talking to the doctor regarding this, he said.... nowadays computer is not a boon to all of us, its a curse.... I didn't have any answer for that cos with his mentality, I know I can't make him understand how it has changed our life. But, I do accept the fact that it has some discomforts too for ppl working infront of it for long durations. Anyway, don't think I should start a discussion on this cos everyone are aware of these...

Back to my life again, at the office and back at home... Am in for a week-long training starting next Monday . Will be coming to the office only for a couple of hours or so....
Then, am going home today for the weekend and enjoy maa ki haath ka khana :D

Heard about the virtual desi bloggers meeting organised by Kaush. A very good idea to network with all the desi bloggers around the world. Hope to join the meeting from home... Hope to see u all there too...

Regarding the "catch me if u can" posting, a few of u infact got it right. Do look for my comments in that post for the answer... :)

catch me if u can :P

So, here I'm back to blogging after the weekend.... Hope all you ppl had a great weekend. Me too had an exciting one...

Last Friday, as I said.. we had a small function at office for our account. Abt 150 ppl attended it, we had a good time.. Was occupied in coordinating the event for most of the time.
My cousin had come from Kerala on Friday evening and was waiting for me at Forum, a famous shopping mall here. I told him that I'll come thr immediately after this function was over. But since I had to take care of some activities after it was over, I was late to reach him. He waited for me there for nearly 2 hours.. poor guy... :((

Reg the alumni meet @ Bangalore, we did have a great time... Huge turnout about 80 of them, right from 1996 batch of our college. I belong to the 2002 passed-out batch. We discussed abt the ways we could build a network between us so that we could help ppl needing change of job or freshers coming out of our college and things like that... Its a great idea and hope we don't lose this momentum and move forward with more such ideas...

Can you spot me in this photo taken during the alumni meet!!!

Bangalore Alumni Meet

And for the ppl who know me, do keep it within urself so that others can have a go.... I had a pic of mine in the profiles for a couple of months... thats why am saying this...

Catch me if u can.... But, I'll tell u there is a way (or I must say a couple of easy ways :D) to find it in my blogs... and I've given a clue too.. :)

I also got the family photo we took when my sister, bro-in-law and nephew had come down to India... Some ppl had asked me to share that photo... Have uploaded it in the web, but I don't want any anonymous ppl viewing those photos... So, if u like to view those and some more of my photos, do mail me.. and I'll send u an invite to view those.... :)

For ppl who r really confused and not able to catch me, do mail me at prasad [dot] raghu [at] gmail [dot] com
Will let you know the answer.....
